Hey Gibbs, when Colbert does it, it’s funny.  When you do it, you look like a petty asshole.  Also, remember when Obama’s healthcare message failed?  That’s on you, bucko.  Write that on your hand.

rillawafers:

I like that you assume Robert Gibbs goes home nightly and watches Stewart & Colbert. I guess if he called her a retard, he’d look petty too - that’s hypocritical. Still haven’t seen any actual legislation on health care, but you let me know if I’ve missed the “final bill”.. I seem to have read something about republicans and democrats coming to sit with Obama and talk it out at the end of the month but who knows, I might be a fucking retard for assuming that.

chuckmore:

Yeah, sorry. This is awesome.

And I’m surprised at the tsk-tsking. Turnabout is fair play. Although they’re “the Administration” now, representing the interests of the nation as a whole, they’re also human beings. These are the same people who had to tolerate the “palls around with terrorists” smear from Sarracuda. They’re still in that foxhole.
And there’s no argument to be made that Palin is an officeholding member of the opposition, who must at least be accorded a modicum of respect. She doesn’t represent anyone and she’s not politicking in good faith. She’s a paid flack for the fringe. She coined “death panels”.
So this is a just knifing, and a fairly lighthearted one at that. Good, clean political theater. Hopey-changey.
